Honduran Mahogany Lumber

Honduran Mahogany, (Swietenia macrophilia) or Caoba as know throughout Latin America is one of the most valuable woods in the  industry. It should not be confused with names like Santos Mahogany, African, Indonesian, because some of them are not even from the same family of Caoba and  they are falsely marketed in the United States.

Honduran Mahogany, known in the United States as Genuine Honduran Mahogany is probably the single most respected all time furniture wood. Mahogany is the benchmark for stability, contains a good level of chatoyancy, has a rich consistent color and finishes beautifully, it has  a straight, beautiful open grain and a color that ranges from yellow-brown to dark red, depending on where it grows. With age, though, mahogany of all colors becomes a rich, dark red-brown. The wood also may display exceptional fiddle back, quilt, and ribbon-stripe figure.

Genuine Honduran Mahogany is a strong wood impervious to all types of insects damage and it has an excellent stability in different kinds of extreme climates making it ideal for exterior uses. In addition, Mahogany is one of the best woods for machining, cutting, planning, and carving.

Genuine Honduran Mahogany is the treasure of our country, that is why we take pride in only purchasing Mahogany from forest with the approvals of the  Honduran Government. All of our mahogany complies with The Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora(CITES).
